Malaika Vaz (UWC Mahindra '15) is a wildlife conservation filmmaker, National Geographic Explorer, and TV presenter, who is deeply passionate about producing impact-oriented environmental stories documentary the world.
We will be screening and discussing about her award-nominated documentary: “Peng Yu Sai”
Peng Yu Sai is an investigative documentary that dives into the illegal trade in Manta Rays across Asia. Through this documentary, Nat Geo Explorer and wildlife filmmaker Malaika Vaz follows the illegal trade pipeline from fishing vessels in the Indian Ocean, to the Indo-Myanmar border and finally undercover in the wildlife trafficking hubs of Hong Kong and Guangzhou, in China. Along the way - she meets with fishermen, middle men, traffickers, armed forces personnel and wildlife trade kingpins, as she tries to understand what it will take to protect these ocean giants.
Come join us for a fun, educational, and UWC mission-driven night at Eugene, Rabeya and Andrea’s house in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn (exact address will be sent once registered). There’ll be a $5 fee for snacks. Please BYOB!
