About The Event
Ensemble for These Times (E4TT) presents Women Crossing/Liminality, a multimedia concert of contemporary chamber music exploring women’s immigration and identity. The program marks the culmination of E4TT’s two‑year commissioning initiative and its sixth multimedia collaboration with the San Francisco Conservatory of Music’s Technology and Applied Composition (TAC) Department.
The concert features four World Premieres, including “Field of Sorrow” by composer Juhi Bansal, setting translations of Afghan women’s landays for soprano, cello, and piano; a new work for bass flute and found‑object percussion by composer Vivian Fung; and a multimedia commission by composer‑performer and media artist Pamela Z for violin, cello, found‑object percussion, tape, voice, and electronics. The program also includes the World Premiere of the winning work from the E4TT/TAC student multimedia composition competition, alongside “Say It in Your Heart, Say It in Your Sleep” (2023) for solo piano by composer Leilehua Lanzilotti and “Liminality” (2021) for solo cello by composer Sofia Ouyang (UWC Changshu China ’20).
