About The Event
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)/Doctors Without Borders will host a virtual Missing Maps Mapathon on Wednesday February 11, 2026.
Created by a consortium of international charities namely Doctors Without Borders, the American Red Cross, the British Red Cross and the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team, Missing Maps is a global volunteer initiative dedicated to putting vulnerable and underserved communities on the map. Using OpenStreetMap, a free and collaborative mapping platform, volunteers help generate accurate geographic data that enables local organizations, international NGOs and emergency responders to better prepare for and respond to crises.
This Mapathon welcomes both first‑time mappers and experienced contributors.
Participants will work hands‑on with OpenStreetMap tools and the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team Tasking Manager, directly supporting mapping projects that strengthen humanitarian response around the world.
