This special Under One Roof tour explores the intertwined stories of two immigrant families who lived side by side during pivotal moments in the first half of the 20th century: the Rogarshevskys, a Russian family from the Russian Empire navigating the labour movement and the Baldizzis, a Sicilian family confronting economic hardship during the Great Depression.
Through moments of shared meals, mutual support and hard‑won advice on work and immigration status, you’ll discover how these families responded to sweeping changes in immigration policy and the expanding role of government in housing and labour.
This immersive experience offers more than history; t’s a powerful reflection on migration, community and resilience, values that resonate deeply with the UWC mission.
